At the end of 2013, I was as at a very low point in my life.
Outwardly, I’m sure no one noticed. I was still that happy, go-lucky party guy that was going 100 miles per hour from one party to the next.
But on the inside, my heart and soul were sad. I was constantly searching for the next drink to numb my pain.
All the partying and trying to numb myself took a toll on my relationships, on my body and my health.
In my days in the Army, I was always fit and trim. Growing up, I was always the skinny kid that could eat 3 Whoppers from Burger King every day, and not gain an ounce of weight.
Then, one day, I woke up and I realized that I was 263 pounds to be exact. I’ve never told anyone the exact number until now. I was always 260.
What gave me the realization that I was obese and only getting more obese by the day is when my Dad called me and shared a victory he had of hitting 235 pounds.
I was like, “Holy shit… My Dad weighs 30 pounds less than I do.”
Right then and there, I decided it was time to make a change.
With the help of a very good friend, Antonio, I began my transformation.
Over the next 2 years, at every moment I could, I chose to eat healthier. I didn’t always eat healthy, but it was on my mind every day.
Now, it’s October 2015 and I am proud to say that I hit my goal at the beginning of the month of 200 pounds.
I lost 63 pounds because I am committed.
I lost 63 pounds because I chose every day to eat better.
I lost 63 pounds because I choose to drive by the drive-thru.
I lost 63 pounds because I chose to do some sort of physical exercise 4-5 days a week.
My point in sharing this story is this:
I’ve experienced what it’s like to be fat and unhappy and I don’t like it.
So I changed it.
I can do that with any area of my life.
If I don’t like something, I can choose to simply change it… NOW!
What are you unhappy with in your life that you would like to change?
What are you waiting for?
