100 Days of Self-Discovery – Day 11 – Adjusting Focus – 3 Minute Read

It has taken a very long time for me to realize that what I see in others is ultimately what I see in myself.

My entire life up until about 6 months ago was centered on perfecting those around me and holding them to my level of perfection.

Which is absolutely impossible.

First, holding anyone to a standard I set for myself automatically sets me up for failure.

Secondly, holding myself to an imaginary or real “standard” is a fool’s errand.

By realizing that I cannot control the actions of those around me has given me more peace than I ever thought was possible.

By simply just enjoying the ride of life and let the chips fall where they may.

That doesn’t mean that I am just going to sit on my ass and do nothing.

It means the complete opposite.

I will continue to do everything in my power and ability to create a better world around me. That sentence you just read is the difference.

Before, I thought I had to constantly be the BEST.

Now, I get to choose peace and harmony. All the while I am creating my perfect life one moment at a time.

I know it won’t happen overnight, nor would I want it to. The growth that comes from experience can never be imitated or replaced.

Experience from failure teaches me the life lessons on how to pivot quicker when something isn’t working.

Experience from success teaches me what works and allows me to continue on my path of self-discovery and mastery.

Each and every day teaches me something new, whether I recognize it or not…

What are you adjusting focus on today?
